Electric vehicles still require regular servicing to remain safe and reliable. While they have fewer moving parts than petrol vehicles, key components such as brakes, suspension, tyres, and cooling systems still need inspection. Regular servicing helps identify potential issues early and ensures your EV continues to perform efficiently. At Sawyers Arms Automotive, we provide servicing tailored specifically to electric vehicles.

Not all mechanics are trained to work on electric vehicles. EVs use high-voltage systems and specialised components that require the right knowledge and safety procedures. At Sawyers Arms Automotive, your EV is serviced by a technician with a New Zealand Certificate in Electric Vehicle Automotive Engineering (Level 5), giving you confidence your vehicle is in capable hands.
In many cases, EV servicing can be more affordable because there are fewer components like oil systems and exhaust parts to maintain. However, EVs still require regular checks to ensure safety and performance. Preventative servicing is important and helps avoid more costly repairs later.
An EV service includes checks of braking systems, suspension, tyres, steering, and overall vehicle condition. We also carry out diagnostic checks and inspect key electrical components where appropriate. Because EVs use regenerative braking, wear patterns are different, so servicing is tailored specifically to suit electric vehicles.
